Easy To Use Self Defense – TASER C2
If you have purchased a TASER C2 then it is very important that you know how to use it properly so you can have the best self defense possible. There are many things about a TASER you should know so you can use it effectively against an attacker. The first step, of course, is to read the directions and Owner’s manual that came with the TASER you purchased. Also, most importantly, take the time to review the included Training DVD that comes with every TASER C2.
The way the TASER C2 gets power is by using a Lithium battery cartridge. This cartridge is very well designed and contains enough energy to power the TASER C2 for 50 firings. Make sure before you put the battery cartridge in that you have not inserted the magazine cartridge first. You don’t want to do that. Always place the battery cartridge in first followed by inserting the magazine cartridge. When you have both cartridges in correctly you will see a green light. This signifies that your TASER C2 is ready for action.
Loading the magazine, or air cartridge is simple. First and foremost is that you are positive the safety switch cover is in the closed position. Just like a firearm, always point the business end of the TASER C2 in a safe direction. Now you are ready to remove the cartridge cover at the front end of the self defense weapon and insert the magazine. When you hear a “click” you will know it has seated properly. The unit is so well designed that there is no “wrong way” to insert the cartridge. This is an advantage also in case you ever have to “reload” in a stressful situation. One more word of caution here, never try to pry open the magazine cartridge. The cartridge has compressed air and the probes and wire inside.
When you hold a TASER you hold it as you would a handgun, vertically. There is a safety switch cover that you open to expose the firing button. Do not fire at an attacker that is more then 15 feet away. That is the maximum range of the C2. All TASER C2 models, except one, have a laser-aiming device. When aiming at a target keep in mind that where ever you see the laser, that is where the top probe will approximately land. If your safety permits, try to avoid aiming at the face, neck, head or groin area.
The spread of the two probes varies with the distance you are away from an attacker. For the best results try to be about 7 to 10 feet away from him. At this distance your probe spread will be about 16 inches which is what we want. This will produce maximum effectiveness. Try to make sure you get more then a 4 inch spread of the probes.
Just like with any tool, practice makes perfect. Before you actually need to use your TASER C2, practice with it. Become more familiar with it. There are targets available for the TASER C2 that will help you gain confidence and proficiency. Don’t think you can practice on a person. The TASER C2 projects two barbs that can penetrate clothing and skin and that is what provides the wattage and voltage.
The TASER C2 is actually two self defense weapons in one. If you have fired at an attacker, and missed, you can still use it as a regular stun gun. Each C2 has two electrodes at the end. If you apply these electrodes to the neck or other exposed skin of an assailant a shock will take place and you can still get out of trouble.
After you have fired the TASER C2 and your attacker is on the ground, drop the unit and run. Run as fast as your little feet will take you. A great thing about the manufacturer of the C2, TASER International, is that they will replace your unit if you have had to use it during an attack. Simply send them a copy of the police report.
